Test and results
Phlebotomy service now operates as a pre-book service only. No walk-in appointments available.
It is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am -12.45pm (please note this runs until 11.45am on a Tuesday).
This service is run by a phlebotomist who is fully trained to take blood samples from patients. They can take blood samples specifically requested by one of the GPs/practice nurses, or by hospital and take samples for patients having chronic disease monitoring or who have attended an urgent care appointment.
Please note they cannot take your blood pressure, provide repeat prescriptions, medication reviews, check-ups or test urine samples
If you have been asked to provide a urine sample in, please bring this in the sterile bottle given from reception and labelled with the date and your name and DOB. It should be handed in the morning it has been passed. You may have been given a form to hand in as well, please enter the date and time the sample was collected in the top right-hand corner.
If you have been told by the doctor or nurse that the sample is for dip testing at the practice (usually as a screen for sugar or infection) please let the receptionist know.
Results of urine and blood tests usually take at least seven working days to come back from the laboratory. The person ordering the test should tell you whether you need a further appointment after or whether you should phone reception. We do not contact you with results – please phone in the afternoon or evening for results as they arrive with us after lunch.
The receptionist will be able to tell you if any further action is required but is not qualified to discuss the result with you. If further discussion is necessary, please make an appointment to see your doctor or for them to ring you.
